An Even Fashion Field

One of the areas where men and women are about equal on the fashion field is in the fragrance aisle. While women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories far exceed the availability of men’s products, there is roughly the same emphasis placed on men’s cologne as there is on women’s fragrances. This is particularly true of designer fragrances, as appearance-conscious men almost always opt for the more expensive and luxurious option.

To that end, some of the most popular fragrances for men include Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, and the slightly lower scale Tommy Hilfiger. Whether it is cologne, aftershave, or other skin care products, these names almost always dominate the male scent market. Women, on the other hand, seem to gravitate towards a new scent every season. Sometimes it might be the tea-infused scent of Victor and Rolf’s Flowerbomb, and other times it might be the gardenia concoction pulled from the mind of fashion icon Marc Jacobs.

The Many Uses of GPS

The Many Uses of GPS

It’s extremely common nowadays to see GPS products in stores and retail outlets. While they were an untapped resource just a few years back, the ease and convenience offered by using them in your car has caused the product to explode in popularity. But how did portable GPS navigation systems get their start? What was the original use for these devices that have come to be known as little else than that handy thing that gets you to a new location. Rather than getting you to the mall when you missed your exit, GPS were originally intended for the military forces.

Making their debut in 1994, they helped US forces navigate through Operation Desert Storm through what appeared to be an endless expanse of sand and dunes. To that end, they were attached to everything from road vehicles to helicopters. Once introduced into the mainstream public, its uses were still generally held to firefighters, police officers, and other emergency response teams. But before long, they became a staple in just about every car driving down the highway.

To Surprise Or Not To Surprise

If you’re convinced you’ve found that one special person you want to be with for the rest of your life and you’ve finally decided to pop that important question of marriage, you might think all the hard decisions are over. But you’d be wrong. There is still one very big question you have to ask yourself before you get down on one knee and make your proposal. Do you pick out the ring, or do you wait for her to pick her own ring? Both sides of the debate make convincing arguments.

On one hand, she will be totally surprised and swept off her feet if you pick the ring yourself. But on the other hand, she might not like the ring, and she’ll have to wear it throughout the engagement. So should you take the risk of getting something she won’t like? After all, this isn’t just any piece of fashion jewelry. This is (hopefully) her one and only engagement ring. It, of course, depends on the dynamic of the couple, but if the ring would matter to your fiancée to be, hold off. Surprise her with an elaborate proposal, but propose with a plain gold band. Let her pick the diamond that’s perfect for her.

Accessory Must-Haves For The New Season

The changing of the season to spring is always an exciting time. Not only is the weather improving (or at least on its way to improving), but it also means that the fashion season is about to change over as well. Out are the woolen sweaters and high waist trousers of winter, and in are the flirty flats and knee length skirts of spring. And because the main cache of clothes is changing, that means the fashion accessories have to change accordingly. While accessories are much more season flexible than clothes, there are certain spring specific accessories that should start making a more prominent appearance.

As the weather turns nicer, don’t be surprised if pastel colors start popping up everywhere. While winter is usually dominated by black boots, spring is the time for lemon yellow stilettos or robin egg blue patent leather flats. It’s also a great time to bust out those pashminas and shawls that have just been sitting in your drawers. They add just enough warmth when it’s too cold for nothing and too warm for a coat.

Great Outdoor Activities

I’ve always loved the outdoors, ever since my dad took me with him on little hiking trips through the wilderness.  While I do like hiking, I’ve never been so much interested in excursions as I have about appreciating nature.  When I was seventeen, my dad bought me a pair of sports optics; a standard set of binoculars.  I used them for a long time to spot wildlife, and became interested in bird watching in my twenties.  Now I spend a couple days every month out in the wilderness investigating rare birds.I’ve now witnessed a lot of amazing birds in their native habitats; birds most people have never seen like horned owls.  It’s great not having to see these birds caged in the zoo, and viewing animals in their native habit gives a whole new appreciation for nature.  I think for parents too, getting your children interested in nature at a young age is a great idea!

When it comes to camping, whether it’s in your backyard or suspended from a rock outcropping at an altitude of 10,000 feet, you need to have the essential equipment covered.  When you break down camping to just the essentials, you need light, food, water, shelter, and clothing.  Flashlights are one of the most celebrated camping essentials, and are available just about everywhere.  Whether it’s on your keychain or held in the hand, you need light for camping.  Food and water are necessary in the outdoors; you should always have enough for your camping trip plus a little extra.  Shelter is more than just a tent, it’s also a sleeping bag, campfire supplies, all the stuff that will help you weather the elements.  You should have clothing for adverse weather, and also extra dry clothing, especially socks.

Covering the camping essentials, you’ll be prepared for just about whatever nature can throw at you in the great outdoors.  When camping also make sure that you’re with a friend or at least let friends know where you will be.

Essential Housewares for New Homeowners

With the housing market in a slump, a lot of qualified buyers have been purchasing new homes at rock bottom prices.  But that doesn’t change the fact that people still need all the housewares to put in their new homes!  When it comes to purchasing housewares, the best place to start is the kitchen.  A home doesn’t quite feel like home until you’ve got a place to prepare and eat food.  You might consider purchases like knife sets, bar stools, skillets and saucepans, cutting boards, and of course, dishes.  For the bedroom (another essential area), you might want to add your own personal style with paint, but also make sure you have lamps, bedding, and perhaps an air purifier to remove that ‘new home’ smell.

If you’re not in a rush to get all your housewares on the same day and want to save a bit of money, shopping online is a great way to purchase products for the home.  You have immense selection, lots of competition, and because of this, lower prices.

Accessories for the Xbox 360

As console gaming systems have become more advance, so too has the technology that supports the games.  In the days of the Nintendo Entertainment System and the Atari 2600, you would never have found gaming consoles with detachable hard drives, remotes, keyboards, and headset accessories.  But gaming consoles are becoming more and more like personal computers.  In fact, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is essentially just a high end gaming computer.  The Xbox 360 can play games, but it can also go online and download music and movies, store music and movies, and be used as a media player.  There are dozens of video game accessories compatible with the Xbox 360, so much to the extent that the whole process of purchasing them more just feels like upgrading your computer.

Microsoft has surely created a gaming console that is capable of a diverse amount of functions, while the other leading console, Nintendo Wii, is noted for its games but not its additional features.
